Now I've been warned.

I originally wrote this post in 2009; I should re-investigate and see if things have changed.

John E. They're my nemesis. I wonder if site owners know just how many people turn away from their sites and the products the site may be selling because they can't decipher the captcha, despite many tries. This happened again to me today.

And the audio captchas are even more hellish.

Captchas are a stupid, stupid mechanism in my view and they're discriminatory. I wonder how people who don't have english as their first language get on, when native english speakers such as myself can't make out the letters when they're superimposed. Captchas are extremely time-wasting to visitors. They cause frustration and anger and turn people away.

Captchas should be abolished by all site owners who care about their visitors and would like them to return.
